Like It Was 2019!

Updated: Jan 26, 2022

As I sit here on October 12, 2020, I think back to last years family events on the Canadian Thanksgiving and American Columbus Day. How time flies and how things changed in the blink of an eye lash.

In little bubble of one, my mind wanders back to this weekend last year. It was my aunts 91st birthday and my cousins wedding on October 12, 2019. We had a very casual family and friends Pizza and Beer party the night before at the hotel. It was a nice way to have dinner after a long day of travel.

The day before the wedding and birthday there was a flood in the small town where we had the wedding. Kudos to the transportation & venue for making getting to the wedding seamless.

The afternoon affair was magnificent incorporating my aunts 91st birthday into her granddaughter’s wedding ceremony and reception.

The food was amazing, everyone’s dietary requirements were met. Kudos to the wedding planner! [the bride’s mother] Tables were set up in a circle around the dance floor which allowed everyone to mingle and dance, dance, dance. Extra bartenders at each bar, so there were not line-ups. A really nice touch!

A family friend who is a "Broadway Star" sang for the Bride and Groom's first dance, and then sang Happy Birthday to everyone’s favourite Grandma for her 91st, and a separate birthday cake was brought out.

After the wedding reception we headed back through the flood to the hotel, changed clothes and then off to the after party. Nothing like winding down on a boat with food, booze, and dancing dancing, and more dancing. LOL

Throughout the weekend nothing was missed by the bride’s mother from gift bags at check in, pizza party the night before, transportation to the wedding & after party, and flip flops for the women when they needed to take off their heels.

This year I sit at home in my bubble of one hoping to celebrate some family event again in the future "like it was 2019".
