Why Take A Photo?
A photo freezes a moment in time. It could be an era, a celebration, something funny or even something sad. The point of photography is to stir emotions. We want to make memories for the next generation to view. Visual history of our lives, and those around us.
It really does not matter your skill level or the price of your camera. With the advent of digital photography and cell phone photography not only do we have instant gratification but also access to camera technology.
Every individual has a different perspective of a photo. Like a story we each get something else out of the image. Let's not forget that every photo has a story behind it. Many years ago I took a photo of a street hotdog stand. Everyone I showed it to have a different reason why I took the picture. I will let you all come to your own conclusion on why I took this photo.

Photography has changed dramatically in the 15 year with the improvement in Smart Phones Cameras. Now everyone is taking selfies and posting them on Social Media immediately. It is time to take a selfie in the bathroom, in your car, Infront of the grocery story. Everyone is interested in what I ate for breakfast. Look at my new hat! LOL
As a long-time photographer, I hate to say this. With all the selfies and other photo taken to put on Social Media many people are missing the important moments in their life. Sometimes we need to enjoy the moments instead of photographing them. Of course Social Media Influencers would disagree with me.
Personally, I have always found that Photography relaxes me. I am concentrating on taking the best photo possible at that moment. Everything else is blocked out of my mind. Before taking the photo, I am thinking of Light, Subject or Subjects, and Composition. The I take the photo and look at it on the digital camera screen or smart phone. I ask myself how does the photo make me feel, does it tell a story, and is it pleasant to the eye? When I am using my digital camera thin I must also be aware of the Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO.
